Cerys came home from church singing this today....
Zaccheus was a wee little man, a wee little man was he
He climbed up in that sycamore tree, for the Lord he wanted to see!
And when the Savior passed him by, he said, "Zaccheus you come down!"
"For I'm going to our house for tea!"
Seriously.
I've heard this before here, the UK version of this song, but I had forgotten about it!
(Just to clarify: "tea" in this country can be two things- a cup of tea or a light supper/dinner. If people invite you over for tea, it's usually a light meal or in my experience, they will say a "cuppa" if it's just literally a cup of tea. Have I told you about the time in Pontypool we were invited to "tea" and I had cooked dinner and we had eaten, thinking it was just a cup of tea. After that situation, we made to sure to clarify what it meant!)

That is too cute! About the song, that is. And funny about the cultural difference.
That is too funny! Did you tell the people you ate before you arrived for tea? LOL! Or did you keep quite and eat another meal?
You know - - - I believe I've sung it that way a time or two in childhood and we aren't even British.
I LOVE it!!!
I love it. :)
Funny. Gabe came home from church singing the exact same version a few weeks ago! Kenyans very much hold to their British colonial background!
Oh that is too precious. And what an awesome reminder that we serve the same awesome God, but our voices are different, our words are different, our homes are different..and He loves each one of us. Thanks for making me "think outside the box"..I needed that.
Hope you guys are having fun with all those high school kids..welcome to my world! :-)
Ummm...yeah, I invited a family over for tea/playdate one day in our first year here. When they were still hanging out at 6 I wondered what was going on. They thought they were coming for the light meal, not a cuppa. Oops!!!
