Show and Tell!

Thanks y'all for your kind comments and encouragement! One of my goals for 2008 was "learn to sew" so I am happy to have made a start. I was so inspired by Bend The Rules Sewing by Amy Karol that I couldn't help but jump in and get going! I have a pupper theatre lined up to make, some placemats, and another zippy purse (for myself, these one pound coins are heavy!).

Y'all are the best! Thanks!

Well, here's what I've been working on lately. You more experienced sewers, please don't enlarge and look closely :)

Tote Bag for Cerys

Here she is modeling her new tote bag, and I did not tell her to pose!

Tote bags for my nephews...

Zippy purse for my sister-in-law- my first zipper! That was a lot of fun!

And baby bibs for our newest nephew born yesterday!!!

And, I can't leave this one out...here's Bailey modeling the bibs...they are quite big for a newborn actually. Oh well.

I sure have had a lot of fun with this! I've ripped out a lot of seems too. My next project is a puppet theatre for the girls!

You are so impressive and inspiring me to sew!!! Adorable bags! And I don't think those bibs are too big for a newborn at all. It's at that age when spit up goes down their entire front. I think those bibs are perfect!

Wow! You've been hard at work. Great job! As far as the bib goes, I've never seen one that was "too big" but I've seen plenty that didn't get the job done. = )

Oh I love your fabric! I was worried about the zipper too on that one end just because it doesn't really lay flat. But I think maybe it's supposed to be that way, or at least that's what i tell myself!
I did try another one this past weekend with thinner gingham fabric and didn't really like how it turned out b/c it made the zipper do weird things.
We finally have ink in our printer/scanner/copier so I'm excited to try out the patterns with templates! I'll let you know how it goes!

They are beautiful bags Charity, where on earth did you find the fabric with the cars and aeroplanes? I need some fabric with boats on for Llewellyn. Any ideas?

I am so impressed, Charity! I've always wanted to sew, but it seems like such a complicated thing to learn. You've inspired me. Did you really learn all this from just a book or have you had help from an actual person?
