I'm not sure how many times I've heard people say that living in Wales "must be rough" and oh you must be "really suffering." Nothing irks me more. I know they don't mean it the way it comes across, or at least I hope they don't.
Yes, this is a beautiful country and I'm blessed to be able to see mountains and rolling hills and the sea all within 10 minutes from our home. I'm thankful for the beauty that surrounds me. It's much nicer to look at than Dallas/Fort- Worth, and much cooler. On the days when I want to eat Mexican food, shop at Target and walk through the mall, I try to focus on the things I love about
1. Castles! The Land of Castles! We really enjoy exploring and finding new places to visit. Our favorites are castle ruins. The restored castles are nice, but the ruins are so rustic and raw, it's great!
2. Life moves at a slower pace here than in DFW. Goodness, imagine that! People are friendly (for the most part) and take the time to chat over tea or coffee.
3. Jaffa Cakes- Now, these have been my favorite biscuit (cookies) since I moved here. I'm not sure how I found them, but I'm so glad I did. My friends Adele and Maria know my love for Jaffas is fierce. Y'all are missing out!
4. GREEN! It's so GREEN here. Maybe just because I'm use to not really seeing any trees and the grass is usually brown in DFW. It's so hot and dry there, especially in the summer. So I just love the Green-ness of this country!
5.You can leave your windows open and no bugs come in! We don't even have screens on our windows. It's great. No mosquitoes!
6. I can walk to most places that I would need to go to- the post office, doctor's surgery (office), the park, the salon, etc. I usually drive to the grocery store, but I could walk if I didn't have much to carry back. I enjoy walking places and not always being in the car. The girls love our walks too!
So that's my list of just a few things I love about Wales. Hope you enjoyed the pictures!

Hi Charity! I just bounced into your blog via BooMama's. I enjoyed looking at your pics of Wales. It looks like a fabulous place to live. I would love to explore some of those castles!
It must be England in general b/c I can relate to all of that. We do get flies and bees up here in NE England but they are quite happy to fly out once they get back to the open window. I'm also a fan of just about every English biscuit except Jaffas (too orangey) -- my favs at the moment are Hob Nobs and custard creams.
Ben and I have talked about it quite a bit and agree that Durham fits our personalities a bit better than Dallas did. We like the slower pace and all those tea and coffee moments with friends.
Great post! :)
Who says Wales must be rough????? I'm soo offended!!!! I'm glad you love our land, its so beautiful and full of history and lovely Welsh people!!!! My favourite thing is the 'green' too..oh and I'm a big Jaffa cake fan too!
Catherine- thanks for commenting, do you have a blog? I couldn't find a link to yours.
Heather- you mean the UK in general right? Ask my Welsh friends and they will deny anything having to do with England. hehehe ;)
Maria- you know most people are just being sarcastic about the "must be rough" part. :)
Hi Charity. You probaly don't remember me, but you took my husband and I to Caerphilly Castle when we visited with Tad and Monica about four years ago.
These wonderful pictures reminded me of that trip and I just had to comment since we have similar pictures in our kitchen showing the beauty of Wales. We also have one of Monica sitting on Tad's lap in the back of your car, but it didn't really fit the theme :0)
Your girls are beautiful, and I'm glad you all are doing well.
Oops! Yes, I did mean the UK...don't want to offend anyone. :)
I say you're blessed and very fortunate to live in such a gorgeous place. Castles, green hills, the sea - sounds splendid to me!
I just found that the "Windsor Castle" series is going to be replaying on PBS here soon. I'm setting the DVR - I love royal watching!
