I have no idea why there is so much to blog about before we go...
A few months back our friends were telling us that they do something fun as a family called "Pajama Runs." They put the kids to bed at normal times then go in and wake them up around 9 or 10pm and go for dessert in their pj's! I'm all for dessert, so that sounded like a fun thing to do. Well, we sort of did our first pajama run last night and the girls were a little confused...
Since we are leaving this weekend I asked our friends if they wanted to do a pajama run to our house for dessert- their whole family arrived just after 9pm last night and I had the table all set with tiny Christmas Puddings. Marc went in to get the girls, who came downstairs completely dazed and confused and it was hilarious! Cerys quickly warmed up and was so excited- Bailey, well as you can see from the pictures, she was not too thrilled with the idea.
Bales, one day you will look at these and laugh, I hope! The girls went right back to sleep after they were gone and it was the first thing they were talking about this morning! (No, I did not wake Addison, I'm not that crazy!!!!)
Our first ever Pajama Run! Next one will be Pajama Run: USA and maybe we can go to IHOP!

Friends of ours also do that only they go for ice cream! We sort of did that the other night. After supper the kids put on their pajamas as usual and then we hopped in the van and drove around looking at Christmas lights. My gang was also very confused by putting on pjs and driving aimlessly around town. Maybe next year they'll think it's fun. :)
They say that the best ideas are stolen ideas! I have to say that Pajama Run is right up my alley! The question is, can I get Tim on board? I cannot believe you guys will be here in less than a week! I will be praying for you as you get all of your ducks (and ducklings) in a row for the trip. Can't wait to see you guys!
What an interesting idea! Our kids take such a long time to go to sleep that once I can tell they are sleeping, I have NO desire to wake them up! Maybe it'll change in a few years. I hope to still remember this :)
What a neat idea! Promise me that when you're in Dallas you will go to Breadwinner's for brunch and think of me.
What a fun idea!
Loving this!!! Of course, it'll be a few years before we try this w/ Jake. He's a lot like his Mama in that he becomes quite the Grumpus if his sleep is disturbed.
Our PJ tradition is on Christmas Eve - Jason did this as a kid, and we've passed it on to Jake. While Jake takes a bath before bed, our "Elf on the Shelf" (aka Toodles) brings him a new set of pajamas and lays them out on his bed with a note about going to bed early so Santa can bring his gifts.
I get chills just thinking about it - last year was the first year it sorta "clicked" for him and he thought it was so stinking funny! Can't wait to see how he reacts a year later, now that he's even more aware!
