So, all of this to say that in the last few months I've started:
* drinking coffee most mornings
*baking from scratch (no choice really on this one, but it's been fun!)
*re-learned how to knit and have made a scarf, a purse and now working on a poncho (along with a few tiny blankets for the Fisher Price Little People that the girls' have-can't waste any yarn people!!!)
*working out
*tried my hand at sewing- made some "curtains" for Cerys and a few other things
And the last one, which brings me to my point-
*running.
I've enjoyed all these new things I've embarked upon, but this running thing has surprised me. I have always hated to run. I don't think I've been running since back in high school when I played basketball. And I hated it then too. Since I've been going to this Legs, Bums and Tums class I thought maybe I should throw a jog or two in the mix to kind of boost my post-baby weight loss, plus it will give me some time to think or listen to praise music on the ipod. I've thought about running for a long time- actually since 2002 when we watched the London Marathon on the telly. I was inspired. Not to run a marathon, but just to run. Anyway, now after 5 years (how sad) I've decided I should try running for fun. I put my trainers on (tennis shoes), came downstairs and announced to Marc that I was going to go running. I got a blank stare from him. He loaded up the ipod for me and off I went! That was 5 weeks ago and, I'm almost embarrassed to say- but I ran a mile tonight. Yes, only one little tiny mile, but I ran every step of it. I would usually run for a few minutes then walk for a few, then run, etc. But I've worked up to running a whole mile and I was pleased. I started setting goals for myself...like run to the red letter box, then run to that blue car, run to the round about, etc. I've thoroughly enjoyed my running time, not only for the physical benefit of it, but I love listening to some Watermark, or Ten Shekel Shirt, or U2, whatever Marc loads for me. I come back exhausted but in a good way and I'm sleeping better at night.
Now, if you are a runner and run a million miles all the time, please don't laugh at my one mile success story. I know I have a LONG way to go, but it's a start right?
And one more thing, I found this cute ticker and just thought I'd share with you that it's only one month, three weeks and six days till we are on way to Texas for a vacation! I can't wait to eat Thanksgiving Dinner! Better take my running shoes for after! :)

Well Done you! That's brill! I just sit watching 'Friends' and complaining about my post-baby weight. Although I have switched 'coke' to 'diet coke' so in my eyes, that's a start, wish I was as disciplined as you though!
Anyways, you looked fantastic last time I saw you, so your hard work's paying off! x
Natalie- you are sweet. I should switch to Diet Coke, but I just can't stand it! You are looking great too, it just takes time huh??? How's the babe? Growing fast I'm sure!
You go girl! I think one mile is a major accomplishment!! Keep it up.
Any chance you have a layover in Boston or JFK on your way to TX?
Woo Hoo Charity!! Ok not only has your knitting inspired me..but your running has impressed me! Congrats on that MILE!!! Be proud..you gotta start somewhere. I just gotta start! :-)
Can't wait to see you guys!!
Way to go on the running, I have been walking every day, I'm trying to get this baby fat off of me!
We hope to see you in a month!
As I said in your last post I am so impressed. I like you have always loved the London Marathon too and I even have some new gorgeous trainers too but I just haven't got around to it yet, I think I'm probably too wobbly at the moment!! But you've inspired me (perhaps I can shift my post, post, post baby weight!), keep up the good work chick!
Way to go Char! I'd be lucky to run if someone was chasing me. In my eyes ONE MILE is quite an accomplishment. I can't even run for ONE MINUTE. :)
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT feel bad about only making it a mile. You should give yourself a cheer! Running the bases makes me completely winded, so you are light years ahead of me! Go girl!
Congrats on your mile - it takes time to build up a running base and that's awesome! I hope to be disciplined at running after this baby - but I'll need some tips on how to get motivated with 2 babies draining all your energy! Way to go. We're praying for you guys.
Too funny...I turned 30 a day after we moved here to England. A few too many milestones all in one, huh?!?!
I'm very impressed with your list...and especially the running.
You are such a good girl! I bought the running shoes last February and they are still in the box!! Perhaps we should run to Caerphilly, have dessert and run home ???
I'm proud of you! Running a mile is a big accomplishment in my book.
Running has never been one of my favs. I prefer the fun of rollerbladding. Who knows, I may have to grow to like running. I'm not sure if there will be anywhere to rollerblade around our neighborhood.
As I have begun "running" again recently, I feel your pain. Running is a term I must use lightly. I'm totally impressed that you made it a whole mile. I still ahve to time myself....walk 1 minute, run 30 seconds. Maybe I'll move to 45/45 this week. Sigh. It takes forever to lose baby weight. Sure was fun to put it on though. :)
