It's been an interesting few days. Bailey, our 11 month old (yesterday!) has decided she is not really into naps these days. She also decided to go on a nursing strike two days ago. So that leaves her really grumpy and me really tired (ok, grumpy too). I can't quite figure Bailey out. She suddenly seems like a different child to me. Now that she is crawling, she is into everything!!! And I do mean everything! I'm starting to think Cerys was not a normal baby- she was calm, never into much, she took her naps (mostly) and just seemed very content to play on the floor with toys. Is it normal for the second child to be so different?!? :) She is fast at lightning too. She has refused her morning and afternoon nap the last couple of days and so she is sooo tired by afternoon that all she does is cry. And that makes me want to cry. Cerys told me yesterday, "Mommy, Baiwey needs a sleep!"
We all went to Tesco the other day, and Cerys and Bailey sat next to each other in the trolley. They have trolley's here that have a child's seat and a built in infant seat next to it. It's nice, if you have your two children with you at the store. But it's not so nice because every time Cerys looked away, Bailey would reach over and yank on her hair. Then she would put both of her feet in the air and swing one over and kick Cerys. Poor Cerys, she was so calm about it all and just kept saying politely, "Baiwey, stop." And then of course Bailey would just let a loud scream and start kicking. We got our shopping done fast and got outta there!
Sorry this post is so random. Just hoping this "phase" will pass soon (oh, please let it be just a phase!) so we can get back to normal around here.

Our little stinker!

I'm guessing it's just a phase. Silas (our 2nd) was a lot different than Elam as well. I remember that he turned 1 and all of a sudden got aggressive and into hitting and stuff. I was freaking out thinking that *terrible 2s* were still a whole year away and couldn't figure out what was going on (besides the fact that Elam didn't go through the terrible 2s either!).
Silas also stopped napping a whole year earlier than Elam did. (Not at 11 months though...sorry!) My guess on all of that is that they are just so ready to be bigger like their older sibling.
So, hang in there...I'll pray that it is just a phase.
On the nursing... My SIL and a friend here both had daughters that just decided to wean themselves-- one at 7 months and one at 10 months. How long were you planning to nurse her?
One more thought. It's so funny to me that once you have 2 kids taking just one to the store is SO easy, isn't it?
Now I do all my shopping when Elam's in school and Silas is in nursery...heavenly!!! :)
Yes, I think it must be normal for the second one to be more difficult. Jaden is WAY more high maintenance than Jamie was. Of course, it could just be that now you are dealing with 2 children at once!
Oh no...I had another comment on the difference between my #1 and 2...did it get lost?
Ditto to all the other comments. I think Luke was designed to break me into parenthood gently, Josh is such a little monkey! I thank the Lord for high chairs (to strap him in) and Quavers (to keep him quiet while he's in there!) Your not on your own chick. Apparently it does get easier ? ! ?

PS. Oh yeah, chocolate DOES make evrything better doesn't it?
Can't really say about the kid thing from experience, but I know no 2 kids are the same. I know it can be frustrating though. It is nice that Cerys is taking things so well (I'm sure not all the time).
Hoping things will get better for you in the next few weeks:)
Hugs!
My dear, I think your days of what you consider "normal" may be a thing of the past! My firstborn, Mark, was an easygoing child and could entertain himself for long periods of time. Gayle came along a little over two years later and made her presence known right away. I don't think she ever really walked, just went at a dead run most of the time. They each have three children, and Gayle has three grandchildren which makes me great grandmother three times over! Their personalities are all different, but they are so dear in their own ways.
I do remember trying to grocery shop with both, and that was long before the days of the kind of car seats and strollers that we have today! It was not uncommon to have a hole chewed in the box of spaghetti (or whatever else might be available to little fingers) and leaving a trail behind us.
Try to rest when you can.
