Cerys has started saying she is scared of things for the first time. She will say, "Dat cares me" (you know, in 2 year old speak). I've been kind of surprised how she knows this word and uses it in the right context. I realize that I use the word "scared" more than I care to admit in my vocabulary, but I try not to use it when she can hear it.
I grew up pretty much scared of everything, so to see this start so young in my own child, I'm trying me best to teach her to call on God for help. My mom would quote scripture over and over when I was a young girl and I know that because of that, my favorite verse and one I say all the time is 2 Timothy 1:7- For God has not given me a spirit of fear, but power, love and a SOUND MIND!
So, recently I found an old book that I did even realize I still had. It was a book my mom bought for me about Psalm 23 when I was little. It tells the story a little boy that was scared, but he remembered that God was there to help him because He cares for us. So I read that book to her and she has come to love that book! I explained to her that she can call on God anytime and ask Him to help her when she is scared.
This morning, when we were out walking and a car sped past us and made a loud noise, she said, "Oh dat cah cares me Mommy!" I asked her what we should do when we are scared and she said "Jesus hepping me peas" and I told her that was good to ask Jesus to help us and we can always do that anytime!
She then said "Dah-mah (Thank you) Jesus hepping me"
And as we walked hand in hand down the street, I had to agree with her.
Yes, Thank you Jesus for helping me!

That's so precious, what a little sweetie!
That is the most precious thing I have heard in a long time. Gabe just recently started "seeing" this little boy up in the corner near the ceiling of the room he usually takes a nap in. He came in the other day and said "Mommy, there's a boy in there and I don't know who he is." So I went in and prayed with him and talked about how Jesus can make him go away. There's been two other occasions since then that he's asked me to come help him pray so that Jesus will make the boy go away. Isn't it amazing how fast they pick up on these things? Oh, to have faith like a child.
I love it! God teaches us so much through children it is amazing!
That is great. It is good to hear of our friends teaching their kids about Jesus. We were just at the Harrington's last night and Lucas was reciting a Bible verse and singing songs:) It is so fun to see them grow!
I love that you use her words...it is like picturing her saying it:)
Missing you guys!

What a blessed reminder for all of us. As we grow up we seem to forget that we still need Jesus' help, in everything. Children are truly amazing.
Miss you guys so much!! Hope the girls get well soon!!
