The Great Hair Debate
Well, it's not really a debate. I've always (and by that I mean since high school) had some sort of high-lights or blonder color on my hair until about 2.5 years ago. When we moved back to Texas and I was pregnant with Bailey I just got lazy I guess and didn't really keep it up. I then just wanted to go back to my original hair color, which turns out to be like "dirty dishwater." Nice huh? The lady in TX that always did my hair, she called it that we always laughed about it.
Anyway.
So, lately it's gotten a lot darker- gee, that's what happens when the sun does not shine often. I've been wanting to get my hair done and just could not for the life of me spend the £100 ($200) that the salon would charge. I love the cuts I've had at this salon, but it's pricey. SO...on Saturday we had a little gathering for past students- ones who have been on the gap year, sort of come back for one day and share what they've been up to, etc. I was speaking to a wife of one of the alumni students and she mentioned that she "does hair." Reeeeeeallly? :) I explained my hair dilemma to her and she agreed it could be lightened up a bit and cut a little shorter, so I asked what day I come over to her house! :) She use to be the top stylists at a salon in England and after moving to south Wales and having a baby, she just works out of her house now. And for less than half the price of the salon I've been going to! That is one reason she works from home, she was telling me about the ridiculous prices at salons these days- don't I know it!
So, today was the big day and I'm really pleased with my color! I think I like the cut, it's different and "trendy" she told me (she's a few years younger, so I just went with it!)....and I took Cerys along for her 3rd hair cut and its really cute too. I wanted hers to be short, for upcoming Nursery school.
Please excuse the photography. :)
Nice flash and finger prints on the mirror!
Tonight, with no makeup.
And Cerys' cute little do-
She loves it, and has been checking her self out in the mirror all night!

I LOVE IT!! And yes it is very Trendy!! Great job and gotta love the "its all about WHO you know"!!
I still drive home to Texarkana for my cut and highlights..its about $90 cheaper...and we may spend it on gas and food..but at least I get to see my momma!! and friends.
You look FABULOUS!!
Great look! It always makes us girls feel good when we know we have cute hair! :)
Love it! You both look so cute!! Guess I'm lucky to be in Iowa, where a highlight, shampoo, cut and style is less than $60!
Great color, and the cut is so modern! What a fun find! Cerys' hair looks adorable, too!
Looks great! And it's not the sun not shining that's making your hair darker--it's age and pregnancy hormones. I stopped coloring mine after I had Jamie, and then when I was prego with Jaden it got even darker. It's BROWN now, no blonde about it I'm afraid.
But I love your new look. Very cute.
Very cute! When we chatted earlier I could not picture the cut. It is so cute and Cerys looks like such a big girl!! Yay for connections!
Super cute!!
Next time, you should consider an EasyJet ticket to Lyon. I know someone who 'does hair' ;)
(And for the record: as a totally unprofessional stylist, I can assure you that the color is 'dishwater blonde'. That woman didn't know what she was talking about.)
Love, love, love the do's!
Looks GREAT! Cerys is getting so big!!
Love the sassy cut and color!!!
Love it! Doesn't it feel good to have a good hair cut and color...
I haven't ventured to the salon in Paris yet. Something about trying to explain what you want in French. I don't think I'm up for that yet. I know there are some that speak English, but talk about pricy! I'm sure I'll let it get really bad before trying anything new, or maybe I'll have to sneak over to Wales and see your new lady!
Hi
I think it looks great, a good hair cut always makes you feel good especially if your sicky preggars too! Cerys looks beautiful too!
love to you all (5 of you...hehehe!)xx
2 gorgeous girlies! Very funky!
That salon price is crazy! My salon charges £20 for a cut and blow dry and £40 for a colour and cut. They are good too. I guess they can only charge that much because people on the Garn couldn't pay if it cost more than that.
I read a novel once about a girl with hair your natural colour. She called it "dirty blonde" which is apparently very sexy ;-)
I like the do! My hair got considerably darker, too, after I got pregnant with Gabe. Everyone told me it would happen, but I still wasn't prepared for it! It has gotten a tiny bit lighter this year after moving to the African sun, but it's still pretty brown! So sorry about the salon prices! A GOOD haircut is quite expensive here as well...which explains my long do these days! :)
Very cute hair..you too Charity! x
Love it and am jealous because cant get a good haircut here! I cut Lily's but it is just so yucky some days! AHHHH! Cerys looks precious! You do too!
